Thank you, as always, for visiting the DEN Tokyo website. We have added a new video page of performance footage to the site.

The page collects stage recordings from our past performances of Nihon Buyo — work that carries the intensity of the performers themselves. We hope the contrast between stillness and motion comes through on screen.

We will keep adding new footage as it becomes available. Please take a look when you have a moment.

The spread of COVID-19 forced the cancellation of our long-run show, which had been scheduled from early March to early May. We had been building and rehearsing it since the end of the previous year. Wanting to bring it to you somehow, we recorded it so that it could be enjoyed at home.

We are offering the recording for sale to support our future productions and the training of younger performers.

Content: the long-run show at Sunhatoya, Ito Onsen, March–May — DEN Tokyo Nihon Buyo Show 2020, approximately 24 minutes. Price: 1,500 yen. Delivered by email attachment; other methods can be arranged.

We have opened this site as a place to share Japan's traditional performing arts with audiences in Japan and abroad, using video and photography to make them easier to approach.

The Artists page introduces the performers on our roster, and their activities and performances appear under Schedule. We hope the site brings these arts a little closer.
